My own definition of Happiness is having a life replete with good relationships and things you like doing and just enough money to live frugally.
For a hard-working teacher, they have more plates to keep spinning.
A happy state of mind encourages good judgments from a person. The state of mind which, whether emotionally or mentally can be defined as being confident and having emotions that range from being content to excess joy, is referred to as being happy.
Rather than just being an emotion, happiness is defined as a good way of living. Developing human capacity for well-being has been the aim of most psychologists since the millennium age came in. There have been many studies in trying to improve our Happiness.
Also, over time there has been a change in the how happiness is viewed; that is from the happiness of virtue to the virtue of happiness. The brain is affected by how happy an individual is. For instance, one will develop stress when he/she is sad or displeased by something negative. Teachers undergo a lot of stress in their profession, including disturbing and arrogant pupils as well as continuous low level noise. This is likely to reduce their morale and happiness and cause teachers stress. The Guardian tells about one teacher’s plight and recovery. Sound familiar?
Stress, on the other hand, depending on how well it is taken care of can be good or bad. When appropriately induced, it can help an individual to work well under pressure and even do their best through that motivation.
However, when one is constantly bumping into emergencies, a price will be paid to the mind and the body. Frequent overwhelming and the frazzled feelings should be reduced at all costs since it is the nervous system of the body withstanding the pressure. The sufferer should ensure his/her mind is restored back into balance and normal state.
By learning how to feel and think, one can improve and protect themselves.The feeling one gets when their body responds to any threat or demand is known as stress. Stress can be relieved by determining the various stress symptoms and signs and countering them.
The best way teachers could beat their stress is through mindfulness. This is the elementary human capability to be completely present, aware of where they are and what they are doing in the moment. It also entails being conversant with activities taking place around and not being overwhelmed by them.
Mindfulness is an ability every person possesses and readily available but it requires practicing daily. Being mindful would involve bringing awareness to the direct experiences through the senses or emotions and thoughts.
According to research, the more a person commits their brain to being mindful allows the physical structure of the brain to be remodelled. Also, mindfulness does not depend on your age. It can serve anyone regardless of their physical capabilities and religion. It is a good for anyone with a stressful job.
Mindfulness goes back 2000 years but it is not obscure. To everyone, this act action is familiar in the sayings, “Smell the flowers” or “take 10 deep breaths” But it goes further to strengthen our innate qualities with simple practices demonstrated scientifically to benefit us. Whether through the body scan, meditations or mindful moments, mindfulness is always available. With mindful moments at home or work, one can pause and take a breathe to gather yourself before answering a phone call.
Poor mental and physical health is brought about by stress related to work and job burnout. Many of the employed suffer from anxiety, depression, and exhaustion which is brought about by this. Some previous research has proven how much help a mindfulness program could be. It reduces these daily experiences by the teachers by developing a new pattern in the brain. These findings also emphasise the great bond between less stress and good job satisfaction which Mindfulness brings to teachers. For those experiencing high levels of burnout from tired out emotions and higher stress levels, it is advisable to practice Mindfulness on a daily basis to regain Happiness.
Since mindfulness helps develop space between the inner reactions and ourselves, some of the practices one can adapt are suggested. First, setting aside some time and space for relaxing and meditation. Secondly, as moments present themselves, one should observe them as they are to encourage inner peace and calmness. Thirdly, as judgments come by, allow them to roll past.
Our mind can once in a while get carried away by thoughts. So, one should ensure they reset back to the present moments, however many times it takes. Lastly, ensure kindness to yourself. How many times do you have to call back a puppy to train it to obey. Don’t beat your self up!
